The houseboat was exactly what was shown in the photos, which honestly surprised us. Our driver Bashir waited an extra hour at Betaab Valley because we lost track of time and never once made us feel rushed.
Did winter Spiti in January when three other agencies told me the route was closed. Travel Tribes had a driver who does this road all season. Komic homestay at minus 15 with a bukhari going is something I will not forget.
Visa, flights, transfers, everything came in one PDF two weeks before we flew. The private long-tail to Maya Bay before the crowds arrived was worth the early start.
Travelling with a seven-year-old and my parents, so I was worried about the ferries. Every cruise ticket was already booked and printed. Not one queue in six days.
Nine days, five passes, one oxygen scare at Sarchu that the team handled calmly. The acclimatisation day they insisted on is the reason the rest of the trip went well.
The upper-deck houseboat at Alleppey was a proper upgrade over the ones parked at the main jetty. Munnar hotel had the valley view they promised, not a parking lot.
